She is eminently well qualified for the task. A practicing pediatrician for more than two decades, Dr. LoFrumento has cared for thousands of children, offered parents guidelines on childcare and educated new doctors in all aspects of pediatric medicine.
Dr. LoFrumento served as managing partner and practicing pediatrician for one of New Jersey’s largest and most respected pediatric groups, Franklin Pediatrics in Morristown. Among her numerous accolades while in private practice are the selection by her peers as one of the Best Doctors in America, inclusion annually in Castle Connoly’s Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area and listings in New Jersey Monthly’s Top Docs.
She is currently an attending physician at the Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown.
“During my years in private practice, I realized that parents were overwhelmed by too much information,” says Dr. LoFrumento. “Their desire to do everything ‘right’ paralyzed their ability to make decisions and caused them a great deal of stress.”
“I wanted to help, so I began creating and distributing simple printed outlines to help parents in my practice understand what was important and also to explain to them what their child was experiencing at each developmental stage. I told them it was OK to relax and that there was more than one right answer.”
Back to School
The outlines she developed were so well-received that Dr. LoFrumento decided it was time to go one step further and create a book and DVD series, for a broader audience. Having used video for teaching medical students and residents, she knew how effective the visual medium could be. In 1996, she went back to school, attending New York University to study video production.
Shortly afterward, she founded Halo Productions and has now launched Simply Parenting.
All the books and DVDs in the series coordinate with the American Academy of Pediatrics schedule of visits to the pediatrician. The DVDs demonstrate how a child develops and help parents understand the impact this growth has on everything they do with their child. Simply Parenting not only tells parents what’s important via the written word, but, through the valuable DVD component, shows them in a way that makes the advice clear and easy to follow.

The success of the Simply Parenting series led to a partnership with alphaMom TV to produce a 15 part series designed to help parents through the first two years of life. These videos are available on demand on COX cable, BabyTV.com, and soon COMCAST cable network. In addition Dr. Mary Ann became one of the parenting experts for the series, Surviving Motherhood on The Learning Channel and is the weekly parenting correspondent for COMCAST on “Your Morning on CN8″ seen on the east coast.
